# Webhooks: Events and variables

{{<tags>}}

Reference for every event Truora can fire and the variables each event exposes. Use this page when configuring Webhooks/Automations rules — pick the events you want to react to and use the associated variables to build conditions, populate emails, or shape HTTPS request payloads.

## Events

Each product at Truora has associated events that your system might find valuable for monitoring in order to trigger an action. Examples of such events include a **Check** completion, a **Validation** failure, **WhatsApp** conversation delivery, among [others](/guides/webhook_events_and_variables/). In this guide, you will learn about each one of them.

## Variables

Associated with each **event** is an **object**; this **object** is related to the by-product and will contain varying levels of information depending on the trigger. For instance, the information about a validation at the beginning of the process will differ from the information at the end of the validation process. These objects provide the basis for the different available **variables**, which can be utilized to create **conditions** or for use in emails or HTTPS request actions.

> Disclaimer: Note that the availability of variables may vary for objects such as **Checks**, depending on the dataset configuration and the feasibility of variable calculation in the check's country.

### Criminal and Legal variables

**Criminal** and **Legal** variables require additional context in order to apply conditions for an event, along with **special operators** to express specific conditions.

To utilize these **variables**, it's essential to define their **participation**. They can be categorized as either **Defendant**, indicating *being accused of*, or **Plaintiff**, indicating *accusing someone of*.

For these variables the **has no records** and **has records** operators are enabled. These operators allow you to verify the **presence** or **absence** of any legal or criminal background, respectively.
